Brazil Introduces Its Own REACH Regulation: A New Era for Chemical Management

In September 2025, Brazil took a decisive step toward stricter control of chemical substances by publishing a draft for the implementation of its own version of the European REACH regulation. The new bill details the process for registration, evaluation, and risk management of chemicals manufactured or imported into the country. The goal is to create a national registry that consolidates data on all chemical substances and promotes transparency within the industry.

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to align Brazil with international safety and sustainability standards, following the example of the European Union. For businesses, this means new administrative requirements, but also better export opportunities to markets where REACH is already mandatory. The new framework sends a clear message — Brazil is striving for a more responsible and modern chemical industry that places safety and sustainable development at the core of its growth.
